Introduction
The following baseline values are intended to act as a starting point for splice tuning. These values may require further adjustment based on the tolerance, quality of the materials, and how they have been stored.

A strong splice should be fairly malleable, and can bend a few times before breaking. With calipers, you should have a strong splice be within -/+0.1mm of 1.75mm.
If the splice is thin or necking, decrease heat and increase cooling, and also increase compression by 1 to 2 (maximum suggested compression would be 3-4).
If the splice is thick or bulging, increase heat and reduce compression by 1 to 2. Please see steps 8 to 9 of our splice tuning guide for more troubleshooting.
