Hey Duncan, thanks for your recent purchase, we appreciate your support! We'd love to see your active purge bucket design in action one you have your Palette. We've discussed enabling custom gcode before and after a side purge and should have more information about this in future updates.

    Hi Duncan,

I'm glad to report that this feature has arrived! You can now set custom GCode sequences to run before and after side transitions, and if set, these sequences fully control movement to and from the side transition location. You can also run custom firmware commands, perform wipe sequences, and more—more info is available in the Sequences tab when editing your printer.

Your design looks very promising, and I can't wait to see it in action!

    Cheers,
    Brandon

Thanks for letting me know we can now use custom Gcode for side transitions; looking forward to trying it out. I'm in the process of setting up my printer with Palette and I've designed the mounting parts and bucket. Just need to get everything printed and wired so I can try it out.

Not quite yet "in action" - give me a week or two to finish setting up the Palette as well. I wanted to come publish what I do have, since I think it's either done or nearly done.

These are all the parts needed to mount the μPurge axis, a carriage to mount it to the gantry, and the bucket itself. The only thing in flux at the moment is the purging gcode and the bucket design. The bucket in the photo is my first version, which uses a silicone wiper. It may be better to purge onto a metal surface instead - will have to test with an updated bucket design.

Your wish is my command; I didn't get everything working on my first print (the NEXTX/NEXTY didn't seem to work right - print head stayed at the Z I sent it to) but I gave it hard-coded coordinates instead and it worked fine. I'm working to tune in the Palette now - the bucket seems to work nearly perfectly so it's a matter of getting splices tuned and the like. The Pinshape share, above, is exactly the parts I used to attach all of this to my D300VS. The Palette 2 is attached to my printer with Wes's Palette mount.

Here's a video of my first successful filament transition. After the transition is complete the bucket moves up about 300 mm to get out of the way of the arms.

This is the kind of waste I get:

Excellent... Just got Palette 2 pro and have it set up on a new Anycubic Chiron. Our other printers have purge buckets and I am happy to see that I can add one on the Chiron to use with the Mosaic.
