Hello Dessagne, currently, you can only import S3D and Slic3r profiles, but maybe one day we can also accept Cura profiles!

For brims, please set the ‘Horizontal gap from part’ to 0 mm.

For the calibration print, the colors may not be perfect as your Palette is still learning about your printer. I would recommend completing a larger print and rating this print as a 4-5 star print even if it is out of calibration. This will allow your Palette to have a larger sample size of calibration values to learn from. You can read more about this here: https://www.mosaicmfg.com/blogs/news/palette-2-uses-machine-learning-to-get-better-with-every-print

If you’d like to restart calibration, please reset to Factory Settings (on Palette’s screen under Settings). This will cause Palette to go through the calibration print again.

Yes, CANVAS has a lot of settings to choose from! In your Style Profile, you can access Retraction and flow settings under ‘Extrusion’.

    Hello Jonny,

Thank you for quick answer !
    I found setting for brims ! :)

About calibration, it's very strange, because the first layer is perfect, I have the good colors.
But during the print, it's worst in worst.
Before to read your comment I have started a third print and the last layer I have 4 colors but it's completely mix ...

I will try with the next print to give 4 star, the next-next print I need to send again 4 star or if it's bad I can give 2-3 star ?

About Canvas, under Extrusion I don't have flow settings, the title is really "flow" or it's an other name ?

I have another question about Canvas Hub :) I have try to send it from web site and I have nothing on octoprint (plugin palette 2 and canvas installed) ...
it use special tcp port or something like this ?

Thank you for help and your quick answer ! :)

You're welcome! I would recommend rating the first few prints as 4-stars will so that Palette will save calibration values from the print, while ratings under 3 will not save these values.

When Palette prints, it uses a calibration value called 'pings' that compares the actual amount of filament vs the expected amount at specific checkpoints of a print. For example, a ping of 95% means that your printer is using 5% less filament than expected, and Palette will use this information to adjust future splices. You can read more about this here: http://mm3d.co/ping-pong

In a print where calibration is off, you'll likely have pings that are a few numbers off of 100% (perfect calibration) and Palette will continuously attempt to get back to 100%. This is why we ask for the first few prints to be rated 4-5 stars even if it's off calibration, as the large sample size will provide Palette with a fair amount of data to adjust calibration in future prints. By rating prints under 4 stars, this data is not saved and Palette will have a smaller sample size of pings.

For 'Flow' in CANVAS, please use 'Extrusion Multiplier' in the Extrusion tab.

Concerning the Hub, are you trying to access the webpage using Palette's serial number? If possible could you please find the Hub's IP address (using your router or a program like Advanced IP Scanner) and enter this address into your brower's address bar?

    Good morning,

Sorry for late answer, I found Flow thank you :)

Concerning the hub I have access to it, but since web page from Canvas, when I click on send to hub, on my web page from hub there is nothing.
And when I go in CANVAS plugin, I have my user as linked account but the connection status is "not connected :/"

I verified my password several times and it's ok, so I don't understand why it not works or I need to open an TCP/UDP port in my router ?

Also as you can see on previous picture, it's my 8th print to try to have 4 different colours.
And for the moment it's not really a success :( (since 5th print, I give 4 stars)
I try search why and I think I have an issue with my calibration because at this step, the filament is in my noise but I have again 7 mm to push in :

the plastic who get out of my noise when I reach the 7 mm.

So it's important to have exactly 0 mm ? if yes how I can solve the issue without done a reset factory ?

I try also to have transition more important but for the moment it's not solve my issue...

    Thank you for help !

Hey Jean Philippe, could you please follow the steps in this support article for your CANVAS Hub: http://mm3d.co/canvashub-connection

Even if the plastic has come out of your nozzle with 7 mm left, please manually extrude a few more mm of plastic before pressing 'Finished'. It's best to stop loading as close to 0 mm as possible as Palette carefully measures how much filament it is creating.

    Good morning,

    Merry Christmas !!!

Good news it works :) finally it was my black color who create my issue.
When I changed my color, I obtain the good result (a little blue inside the white but I think after few print it will solve :))

    Thank you for help !

But I have again another question ^^**

I try now to print another bench with more difficulty with transition tower !

but when I do this I have an error during the slice ...

    have you an idea ?

    Thank you !

    Hello,

my config it seem to be ok ? I retry and I have always the issue :/

This might have something to do with your Style Profile settings. Do you have Transition Towers turned on? If you'd like, you can share a screenshot of your Transition settings.

I have transition towers turned off, I want to test to print without to consume less plastic and see the quality at this moment.

Thanks for sharing. For No Transition Handling, Palette will try to transition inside the model. Depending on the model, there may still need to be a transition tower if there are layers that are not large enough to properly transition. In this Benchy model, there are layers where there would not be enough room for your colors to transition fully, which is why you're receiving this error. No Handling is better used for models that have a consistent width or area for your printer to transition.

To avoid this error, please turn on Transition Towers or Side Transitions.

    Hello Jonny,

Happy new year :) and the best wishes for you in 2019 ^^
thank you again for answer !! Each time you give answer quicker than I can test with your remarks ^^

After the party I come back on my Palette 2 and I have some good news and bad news ...
Good news :) : I print my bench, it was not prefect, some issue with extrusion settings nothing about the colour :)

So I tried another settings and the trouble started ...
In first I was too agressive with retraction and I have obstruct my nozzle .... Consequence I change my nozzle, and disassemble plastic window to remove the blocked plastic filament (thank you it's very easy :)).

I took the opportunity the update the firmware of palette 2 with the last one :)

I retry after to print my bench ... and the result was very weird ... the colours were completely mix.
So I retry the first bench (same file) and the result is ....

Have you an idea why I have this ?
I don't understand why :'( , I use the same file, so there are not changed since the last one who it has worked.

    Thank you for help.

Hi JeanPhilippe, Happy New Year to you as well! All the best in 2019.

Thanks for sharing this information with us. Taking a look at your picture, I would suggest running an extruder calibration to ensure that your printer is extruding a consistent amount of filament: https://mattshub.com/2017/04/19/extruder-calibration/

Once this is done, I would try to re-run the calibration process: http://mm3d.co/calibration-troubleshooting

    Hello Jonny,

I follow all step and indeed my extruder needed to be calibrate, I have also done a reset factory of my palette 2 and I followed the different step.
For my first print I followed calibration step (https://support.mosaicmfg.com/hc/en-us/articles/360011132134-Calibration-Print) and the result are very good :) (little issue of leveling of my bed ^^*)

I increased the size at 170% to have a lot ping.
Tomorrow I think, I will try with https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2461473
And after I will retry the boat :)

    So good news :) :) :)
    Thank you !!!! ^^

Just another feed back on palette 2, I don't now if you have see on previous picture, but on spliceCore it didn't be the default screw.
During my previous test (before the reset factory) the splice of the two filaments broke, so I dismounted the palette 2 and when I try to remount the splicecore, the screw did not want to hang on, to screw (I'm sorry, I don't know how to describe).
So I change the screw by another one longer and it solve the issue.
I don't know if there is only me who has this issue but I think that the default screw is too small of 2-3 mm no more.

    Again thank you :)
I will post the next picture with the hope to have the same result :) :)

Hi Jean Philippe, great to hear! The calibration print looks great. I'm sorry to hear about your thumbscrew but if you require a replacement, please let me know.

We're excited to see your next prints!

    Hi Jonny,

I'm having a good time :) (about the thumbscrew it's just a day you do an materiel update for the other people :))

So my second print, I had some troubles:

     - A splice between orange and blue has broken. I stop the print from pallette 2 and restart the print.
     - A wire (manage power) from my bed has broken (rraaa> <) so I stop the print from pallet 2, repair and restart.
     - I had as result :) finally !! ^^

For the moment I don't click Save because if you look I have one or maybe 2 layers where I don't have the good color.
So I don't know, it's normal because it's my second print ? so I need to save and learn ?
Or it's not normal I don't save and I restart the print ?
Or it's not normal I don't save and I restart all process (reset, etc ...) ?

    What do you think ?

Than you very much for your help !!!!!!

Thanks for sharing! Although there are 1-2 lines where the color has switched, I would still save the calibration values as overall, the calibration of your print is very good. It's better for you to save these values and allow Palette to gain a larger sample size of calibration values rather than run another print.

In the future, please save the values of your print if the calibration is better than the last print that you completed.

    Hello Jonny,

    Ok thank you :)
For the third print I'm trying a larger print :) 73 meter of plastic, one day and 9h of print.
I try the globe core :) with only 4 colors ^^ I will see later (in few month) to switch of color during the print ^^

    So the result expected :)

For the moment the result :

As you can see I have again some issue, we will see at the end but maybe I'm too ambitious for a third print ?
After I have maybe break the calibration by myself :( because as I had a weak infill, I up a little my extrusion multiplier (I add 0.01). I don't know if it can justify the issue that I have now.

    what do you think ?

Thank you for your help and for all time lost with me ^^

Hi Jean Philippe, you're very welcome, we're always happy to help. Based on the pictures that you're sharing, it looks like this print has already lost calibration. However, let me know how the completed print looks and see if you can record some of the ping values for us.

If your print loses calibration, it may be best to go back to a smaller model.

    Hi Jonny,

ok however, I had a big issue :(. The print has completely failed, I think during the night a splice broke and the printer was stop as the palette 2.

when I stopped the print with pallet 2 screen I couldn't remove the filament as it was brake, so I removed the glass.
When I tried to remove it, it was not possible to extrude was blocked.

So I powered off the palette 2 and restarted it.
After the restart since the control panel I click to remove all filament and it worked.

Also my nozzle was jammed bottled but I thing it's because during few hours the filament did not move.

I will retry a previous print to see today (in 9 hours when I come back in my home :))

But it's very strange because the printer was stopped, it didn't finish the print and the extruder of palette 2 completely lock o_O
I had already a splice break but the print continue and when I stop the print, the extruder is not lock.

    thank you for help.
I don't power off Rpi if you need logs or something else I can get it.

Hi Jean Philippe, I'm sorry to see that the splice broke! Have you run splice tuning with your filament recently (http://mm3d.co/p2splice-tuning)? If not, I would suggest using this feature to try and find values that work for your filament. If your filament is too thin I would recommend lowering the heat and if you filament is too thick, I would slightly increase the heat. If you're not sure, please feel free to share pictures of your splices with us.

    Hi Jonny,

nop I have never run splice tuning.
Ok so after to read how to do, I think my good value for my Abs is -5 | -1 | -2.
Now I will try to print, it's better to print a previous object or to change ?
For the next print I will try that, it's smaller than the previous but it's enough ?

  • Avatar
    Jonny Yeu

Hi Jean Philippe, great to hear that you've found better values using Splice Tuning. I would suggest a smaller object just to test your spliced for the time being. the Earbud print is quick and should have enough splices to see if your Splice Tuning settings are ok: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2461473

  • Avatar
    Jean philippe Dessagne

    Hi Jonny,

Ok, yes now the splice is very different :) I tried to break in pulling on it and I did not succeed. it is also much more flexible :)
So I retry this print Earbud (the last try, I had only 2 wrong layers :)).
It will finish in 7 hours, after if the print is good.
Do you think that I can try the print of my previous post ?

Thank you for your help :)

    Hello Jonny,

So another bad news, the splice has broken again .....

I'm not lucky because the impression was good !!

After that, I think the issue with splice is the consequence of another problem.
When I tried to remove the filament, it was impossible !! the extruder is locked!
For me I think that palette 2 has stop to create filament and the printer extruder has tried to get filament until it crack.

My printer has finished to print the object for it, but for palette 2, it was stoped at the middle of the print.

What do you think ? it's possible ?

For information, I start again the same print, this time I connect an web cam so I can check the print regulary.
If the issue happens again, there are some logs that I can get ?

Thank you for your help :)
I'm sorry to ask a lot question.

    Hello Jonny,

the print of this morning has finish and same issue the splice brake inside small tube ...

I have only this photo for the moment with the webCam, I can't retry any test for the moment.
    It's very very strange !
I reboot nothing for the moment, if you need logs or other data.

Hi Jean Philippe, there's no need to apologize, we're happy to help! Taking a look at your Splice Tuning settings, it could be that there is not enough Heat applied. Taking a look at your Splice Tuning values, you reduce the Heat to -5. We find that increasing the heat while reducing the Cooling has helped with ABS prints in our office. Our ABS settings are 4 | 0 | -6.

We appreciate you trying to save the logs for us to review, but I believe that this is a splicing issue as your splices may not be strong enough. Since there are no splices for a large portion of your print, we don't see these issues until later.

Could you please try to use the ABS settings I shared and post photos of your splices here? This would allow us to see if any further adjustments need to be made to your Splice Tuning settings.

    Hi Jonny,

Thank you for your answer, in fact I done an mistake with my previous comment.
    My splice tuning setting are 5 | -1 | -2, the '-' is a mistake.
I will see if I can do today a video of my result with settings and with 4 | 0 | -6.
