A random colored print will automatically create splices for you in a non-specified order. The result will be a print with random color changes with no transition tower required. Random colored prints are a great way to use up leftover spools or create neat effects on prints.
- Slice a single-body STL model in CANVAS or your preferred slicer. Transfer the G-Code file to your printer.
- Turn on Palette 2 and select Print Modes.
- Select Random, then tap Next.
- Select which inputs you would like to use, then tap Next.
- Specific if you'd like to use Random or Exact splice lengths. Random will create splices of unequal length (between a min and max value) while Exact will create precise lengths. Either option will feed from selected inputs randomly.
- Enter the total print length by using a website like gcode.ws to find the filament length of your print. We suggest rounding this value up to ensure that you have enough filament to complete the print.
- Select the Start With Printer option. The Start Without Printer option will continuously create filament without waiting for an extruder to use the filament. This allows you to feed the spliced filaments onto a spool.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to load filament and begin the print.
