Looking forward to seeing more testing and integration with the Duet boards. I can confirm that it works in connected mode and accessory mode, but there are certain quirks that I'm still working through.

So in the 7 months since I asked this question.. are they now compatible?

Ive seen Jason's post but without a Canvas + Palette setup I really have no idea how that works with my Duet powered Rostock Max.

Yes it's compatible, but you lose some functionality of the Duet. It just executes the commands sent to it from the raspberry pi running octoprint.

Step 1 is to get the raspberry pi and octoprint running, then install the pallette plugins.

Step 2 is connect to the Duet via USB

Step 3 is to slice your multicolor print

Step 4 is to print it through Octoprint.

You will have to use Octoprint to control the print. The duet DWC won't do much other than show some basic information.

So I would slice as in Canvas (instead of S3D I currently use)?

Does the Duet's config for actually driving Extruder and XYZ stepper motors stay as is?

I have a Pi here and used to have Octoprint on it, till I got the Duet. Ill dig it out now.

You can use Canvas if you want. I don't use S3D, but there might be instructions for how to slice with it already. There are instructions for using Cura and Slic3r.

The Duet config all stays the same. All the printer firmware settings are all the same. the only difference is that you won't be printing through the DWC and uploading the gcode file to the SD card. You'll use Octoprint to stream the gcode file over USB to the Duet.

You'll need the canvas and palette plugins for octoprint. There are pretty decent instructions for getting everything setup already.
