Compatible Images
Upload PNG, JPG, and JPEG files. For PNG images, transparent backgrounds are ideal.
When looking on a search engine for stamps, try adding vector, simple, or cartoon to the end of the search title. This will often yield simpler images that are better for stamping and printing. Look for images that don’t have small or thin features - bigger, blockier details will generally print better. Note: stamping does not accept vector file formats, but most “vector art” can be saved as or converted to a PNG.
Adobe Photoshop
To create clipart:
- Start a new project and open the image you would like to use.
- Using the Quick Selection or Magnetic Lasso tool, trace out the border of your image.
- Use the Move tool to either cut or copy your selection.
- From the menu bar, select File > New and change Background Contents to Transparent.
- Paste your cut or copied image
- Select File and save the image as .png, .jpg or .jpeg to use on CANVAS.
Canva
To create clipart:
- Create a new project.
- Using the Elements tool, create your desired image using different shapes, stickers, symbols, etc.
- Select Download and save the image as .png, .jpg or .jpeg to use on CANVAS.
Understanding How Images are Placed
Since the stamp is “projected” onto your model, switching between perspective and orthographic views may change how the stamp appears on CANVAS. Place the image on the model from the view that you want it to appear flat.

Orthographic:
Uploading a Text Image
Use a screen shot from a word processing or a font website. Most font websites will have a preview image of the font that you can customize with your own text.
Microsoft Word
- Using the Text Effects tool, type out and format your text.
- Copy your text.
- Paste Special in a new document and select PDF.
- Right click the resulting image and select Save as Picture.
Save the image as .png, .jpg or .jpeg to use on CANVAS.
Adobe Photoshop
- Create a new project.
- Using the Type tool, type out and format your text.
Select File and save the image as .png, .jpg or .jpeg to use on CANVAS.
Canva
- Create a new design with custom dimensions.
- Using the Text tool, type out and format your text.
Select Download and save the image as .png, .jpg or .jpeg to use on CANVAS.
Color Selection
Adjusting images in a photo editor can let CANVAS separate your colors into groups more easily. Here is a raw photo uploaded into stamping.
The stamping tool analyzes the photo and looks for regions that match eight RGB colors, and will attempt to select colors from your toolbox based on these eight RGB colors.
In the photo above, you can see how the sky is predominantly white when looking at the color groups.
To detect the colors better, you can use Adobe Photoshop or another image editing tool to select the different colored regions and try over-saturating colors, adjusting levels and curves, and adjusting brightness in order to create stronger contrast.
Below, you can see how this edited version of the photograph has more color groups visible.
Reducing Noise
You may find colored regions that have a lot of noise when the image is uploaded. When selecting the color, if the noise is almost pixel in size, select it to be another color so that these tiny toolpaths won’t generate when sliced.
Using 3D Model as a Design Template
Try taking a screenshot of your model and taking it into Photoshop, Illustrator or other layer based software to make an image that you can then lay on top of your model.
Combining Painting and Stamping
Painting and stamping can be used together, but the stamps will be applied on top of the painting. Painting is the very bottom layer. As you add stamps, if there is overlap, the most recently added stamp will lay on top.
Add Depth to Your Models
Use textures and patterns to give more depth to your objects. For the leopard’s spots, we found clipart off of Google Images. You can either do this or use a photo editing tool to create your own.
Adobe Photoshop
- Start a new project and open the image you would like to use.
- Using the Quick Selection or Magnetic Lasso tool, trace out the border of your image.
- Use the Move tool to either cut or copy your selection.
- From the menu bar, select File > New and change Background Contents to Transparent.
- Paste your cut or copied image.
- Select File and save the image as .png, .jpg or .jpeg to use on CANVAS.
Canva
- Create a new design.
- Using the Elements tool, create your desired image using different shapes, stickers, symbols, etc.
- Select Download and save the image as .png, .jpg or .jpeg to use on CANVAS.
Adjusting Thin Lines
Use Paint or other image editing programs to “thicken” and simplify stamps for better results:
Performance and Image Size
A better GPU on your computer or mobile device will allow painting to perform better. If you’re experiencing problems, reduce the resolution of your image and your model’s mesh.

Thanks a lot Alina. I´m new user. I have bought a palette serial 7R56-SXLI-2IJF-1708 with the arduino 2560 5v regulator burned and I replace it with a 7805. Today will try to print a mulicolor model and check the calibration and how it works.

Hey @dlezama, yes you can use CANVAS and stamping with Palette +! You would use Palette + and CANVAS as you do normally for prints, simply add a stamp to your models.
