Polar Cloud Integration
What is Polar Cloud?
Polar Cloud is an online printer management platform that helps educational institutions manage multiple 3D printers and projects. If you have a Polar Cloud account, you can now integrate it with CANVAS! This article will take you through how to link your accounts and send sliced projects from CANVAS to your printer on Polar Cloud. Users must have a registered account on both platforms.
Linking Accounts
1. Sign into Polar Cloud.
2. Sign into CANVAS.
3. Go to Account Settings on CANVAS and click Integrations - you will see the Polar Cloud integration listed.
4. Once you are on the authorization page, you will be given the option to authorize or to deny the linking of accounts.
Following authorization, you will be brought back to your account settings on CANVAS - you are now linked and can send sliced files to Polar Cloud.
Sending Sliced Projects to Polar Cloud
In Your Printer Profile Configuration
Please note, only the following sliced flows are supported:
A. If using a Dremel printer*
- .g3drem file from a single colour print
- .g3drem file + .maf file from a multi-colour print using Palette in accessory mode
B. If using a non-Dremel printer**
- .gcode file from a single colour print
- .gcode file + .maf file from a multi-colour print using Palette in accessory mode
- .mcf.gcode file from a multi-colour print using Palette in connected mode
*If you are using a Dremel printer, in your printer profile settings, please make sure your file output is set to ‘g3drem’ and that you have unchecked the Include comments in print files box.
**If you are using a non-Dremel printer, in your printer profile settings, please make sure your file output is set to ‘gcode’.
In Your Project
1. After slicing your project, select Send to... in the bottom-right hand corner.
2. In the modal, select Polar Cloud.
3. Select your Polar Cloud printer.
4. Wait for the sliced project to be transferred.
5. Once transferred, Go to Polar Cloud will appear in the bottom right-hand corner - please click here.
If you are in accessory mode (not using a Hub), the GCode file will be sent to your printer on Polar Cloud, but you will be prompted to download the sliced ZIP file. In this ZIP file, you have the .maf file that you will need to transfer onto an SD card for your Palette 2.
Unlinking Accounts
1. Go to Account Settings on CANVAS.
2. Under Integrations, select Unlink.
You will be notified on the screen that your accounts have been successfully unlinked.
