Baseline Splice Numbers
This article is part of our Splice Tuning Guide for Palette 2.

Look at the table below and compare your desired material combinations, find the material with similar properties and use its Heat, Compression, and Cooling Values as a baseline.
(Updated 2019.07.31)
The values in the table above are suggestions only. Actual optimal settings may vary substantially depending on filament brands. (E.g., While ~2/0/2 works well for most PVA+PLAs, some Palette owners have reported optimal splices at 4 Heat, 4 Compression, 1 Cooling, or 6 Heat, 4 Compression, 0 Cooling.) We suggest experimenting with different combinations of settings based on the instructions below. Feel free to reach out to support@mosaicmfg.com if you run into any issues.
Please note that some filaments may require a small increase in Cooling Factor when using Palette 2 with its top lid on.
This is due to the internal temperature of Palette causing the temperature to be slightly higher, meaning that additional cooling time may be needed to create strong splices. We have plans to adjust Palette 2’s performance so that the Cooling Factor will be the same regardless of whether Palette 2’s top lid is on or off.
