Adalyn, Why don’t you guys tell just us the truth which is we are not going to ever have reliable TPU splicing with the P3P. This way you don’t have to keep feeding us the BS of it’s “coming soon”. Coming soon came and went. Too many buyers have been duped into thinking TPU support is (reliably) coming soon. I have been off this forum for months waiting patiently for Mosaic to release TPU support which I asked about back in Feb. You told us it was coming soon. What does that even mean? You guys have lost all credibility. Remember, we all waited over half a year for our initial P3Ps and we were patient. Covid, supply-chain issues, shipping. We all understood these issues were beyond Mosaic’s control, but surely, you control your marketing message and your engineering. So over a year and a half after paying for my P3P I still don’t have TPU support which was a primary reason for purchase. A quantum step backward and a case study in $hitty customer support. Disappointment is an understatement.
Benoit, The image in the getting started guide is outdated. It was made before the release of the Palette 3. The Canvas icon does NOT appear on the Palette menu. There is no ability to get to your Canvas projects from the Palette. The fact that you can send the files from Canvas to the Palette indicate your Canvas/Palette connection is working properly. - I know it’s frustrating trying to solve a problem that isn’t there. :-) Hopefully, Mosaic will update the guide. You are the third person that has asked this same question this week.
Rush, That icon no longer appears on the Palette screen. The screenshot from the guide is outdated. Another user posted this same issue the other day. You can read a more detailed answer here: Canvas option is missing from the Start Print Menu
I think what may be confusing is the first screen shot shows the Canvas icon on the Print From screen and the second one does not. The first screen shot is older and from the Start Guide. I have never seen that icon appear on my actual screen. It seems like somewhere between guide creation and Palette launch that screen was changed. I’ve updated my P3P with every firmware release since I got it last Nov. and I don’t recall ever seeing that icon. I am chiming in because it seems like the first image (from the start guide) is causing confusion and should be updated. To the best of my knowledge that icon does not appear any more. Mosaic has changed that screen to only show Local/USB/Custom.
David, I print on a Railcore II also. My tube goes from the P3P into a BondTech extruder. Here are screenshots of my P3P settings for the loading offsets and outbound tube lengths. If your filament is coming up short before printing, I would check the outbound tube length and/or raise the value using the custom setting under the tube length. I remember reading another user measured their tubes and they were not the lengths Mosaic said they were. If you’re short 1” try increasing the value of your tube length 2.5cm.
Hugues, Do you have the latest firmware installed? Mosaic has special/alternative firmware for Prusa MK3 printers. You can find it here: Palette 3 Firmware Releases
Kevin, you said the “power block” is lighting. I assume you’re talking about the power supply itself. Do you know if the P3P is receiving power from the power supply? When the P3P is receiving power (from the power supply), the on/off switch on the side of the P3P illuminates either red or green. Red indicating the Palette is off, green indicating it is on or turning on. If the switch is NOT illuminated the outbound cord to the power supply might be the issue. If the switch is illuminated but does not operate the switch could be the issue or there is a loose connection inside the P3P. If you have a multi-meter plug the power supply into the wall and test the OUTBOUND plug of the power supply to see if there is power ensuring the plug is not faulty. If you determine it’s the power supply, swap it out using the label on the one you have as a reference. If that’s not it and you feel bold, open up the P3P and look around the switch to make sure all wires are soldered/connected. This may seem basic to some but...
@aordono, Thanks for the reply. I have tried to slice with Slic3r/Prusaslicer engine several times and have been unsuccessful each time. Canvas returns an error shortly after hitting the slice button. The error message returned was not helpful in determining the cause. I don’t recall what it was but it happened every time. It gave no indication what setting caused it. Since Mosaic says the engine is experimental, I didn’t spend a lot of time trying to figure it out. I’ve already spent enough time fiddling with Canvas/Kissslicer to get good prints but I still can’t match the results I get with Simplify3D. My P3P is calibrated and the prints do finish successfully in terms of filament production. Pings and Pongs are good and transition quality is excellent but the QUALITY of the print is so much better when I slice using Simplify3D. Example: If I were to slice a simple 100x100x3mm block using Canvas, the results will have gaps on the surfaces (top and bottom). No matter what settings I use for gap fill, the...
Paul, based on your explanation and your pics it looks like the piece of metal you are referring to is the individual “traction control” mechanism for inputs (filament). Since the cam is a universal feeder across all inputs there needs to be a way to grip each input individually otherwise the cam would feed/retract all inputs at the same time. Each input has one. It is normal for them to raise and lower but it appears they are not functioning correctly. I know this doesn’t help fix the problem but you asked what the metal pieces were. Why they are not retracting properly I don’t know. This is my best guess based on your pics. Have you tried clearing all the drives via the P3P console? Does that reset the mechanism? I know when I want to remove/change the filament in all inputs between prints sometimes there is one that won’t pull out. I have to use the console to clear it because there is one traction control mechanism still engaged. I think this is expected behavior though because I can always clear it...
It’s more than an inconvenience. It makes the P3P unusable for large projects. I would like to print an object that is 600mm tall using all 8 inputs on the P3P. Many layers have as many as 6 or 7 color transitions and the model is rather complex to begin with. It would take forever to process this in the cloud with Canvas and no doubt it would time out. I know this is falling on deaf ears and many of us have requested this numerous times but we need an offline processing solution for Canvas. Is Mosaic expecting all of their corporate and industrial users that want to use Element HT and Arrays to work within this 100mb constraint or is Mosaic offering a more powerful processing solution for corporate clients? And why can’t the server timeout value be increased?
