P2PS Making endless filament

I have been using this P2PS since it was released with only minor issue, but today I am struggling. Today the P2PS started making more filament then what was needed and started to push the tube out of the clip. I checked all the switches, reset the printer profile, reset to factory default, and recalibrated. But now I cant get the P2PS to stop making filament when the print starts.

Is this a good question?

As an update. I just wen to run a calibration again and the P2PS never gets past "Slowly remove filament". I followed the guide on how to clean the encoder (Replacing the Encoder) and tried again with the same results.

Hey @edrft_99, thanks for reaching out about this. If your P2SP is making filament non-stop, this is either an issue with your homing switch or scroll wheel. To test the health of your homing switch, please go to settings -> about -> next -> next, and make sure the switch says “pressed” when there is filament on it versus “not pressed” when there is no filament on it. The switch is located directly underneath the splice core.

If your homing switch is okay, let’s check the health of your scroll wheel. Please tell me what your SPC/PPM values are (found in About on Palette). Can you also please confirm for me that you removed the wheel from the substructure (by pushing on it to pop it out) and cleaned it with rubbing alcohol before reinstalling it?

Alina,

Thank you for the response. The homing switch is working.

The Current SPC/PPM is 2.518 & 41.22

I did not take the whole scroll wheel out. I can do that again here shortly and report back any deltas.

Thank you.

No problem Edward, please go through with the full removal and clean of the wheel, and then recalibrate your SPC/PPM. Let me know what your new values are please.

I got the wheel out and gave it a good cleaning. After a recalibration I am doing better but having some "issues still". When the print first starts it makes more then what is needed, but will eventually fix itself through subsequent pings. I reset everything and did another calibration. Just to test. Thoughts?

Hey Edward, is the extra filament at the beginning of the print, before you insert the filament into the extruder? This initial filament should be the length of your outgoing tube. You can check your outgoing tube length by going to settings -> preferences -> outgoing tube length. If you have changed this tube, you will need to reset to factory defaults in order to choose the new outgoing length and rerun the calibration keychain.

The tube length is set to medium, and I have never changed it. The filament never makes all the way to the end of the tube and then starks making extra towards the beginning of the print. The print will eventually fix itself with pings. But does throw off some of the colors.
