Filament snapped internally but print continued

Hello, I was printing the test octopus and everything was going well for the first 3 hours and left the printer running overnight. When I checked a few hours later the printer was printing into thin air without any filament about 1.5cm above the last physical layer. There was a length of filament in the accumulator but I think it might have snapped. My printer does not use it’s own runout sensor anymore as the P2S tube goes into the extruder direct drive. Why did the print continue although the Palette had stopped providing filament no alarms or timeout etc? Thanks Harry

Hey @neergh888, thanks for reaching out about this. It sounds like you may need to run splice tuning with your filament, as one of the splices may have broke. If the splice broke inside Palette in a way that prevents it from making any more splices, then Palette will stop the print. However, if the break does not affect Palette from making more splices, unfortunately it cannot stop the print. Hope that helps for now and please let us know if you have any more questions.
