Mysterious filament jam on any input

I have encountered a strange issue with my Palette 2S Pro. Filament will not load on any inputs. It will attempt to pull the filament, but as soon as it gets to the cutting wheel, it will make a rattling noise. It is repeatable on any input, so I think something is wrong at the cutting wheel. I do not see any leftover filaments upon close inspection.

Has anyone encountered this issue?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hey @vorchak, could you please check the following:

  • remove the homing switch acrylic cover (cover over the homing switch, located directly below the splice core) to check for any broken pieces of filament
  • reinstall the small acrylic guide piece pictured here, making sure it is properly installed with one of the black screws:

Let me know if this helps. Thanks!

Any stl files for all of these acrylic pieces like the guide piece circled, the bottom where filament feeds, the top left where the buffer is etc. ? i'm thinking of changing up the colors and blinging it out a bit - I would post process to make sure the filament path is smooth, but would be nice to use a translucent filament and print these out (or to have as backups), I love showing off the pallete 2 while a print is going on !

@andyarty We don't have STLs available for these at the moment but will reach out to our hardware team to see if they can be made available.

@jonnyyeu Thanks @jonnyyeu that would be amazing, would look pretty good with all those parts printed in different transparent/exotic colors, I would show it off without the cover all the time !

@andyarty Hey Andersen, here is the STL for the merger piece: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:498174...

Hi @alina , yes, I had also looked underneath that. There were no filament pieces. However, I did find a solution. Apparently when this happens, the cutting wheel may end up at the wrong angle. And it seems Palette does not automatically repositions the wheel. Then whenever I am loading a new filament, it will get blocked by the cutting wheel because the opening on the wheel is not lined up. Therefore, what I did was to manually turn the wheel to the initial position. And now, it works fine again.

Thanks for the update @vorchak - please let me know if you run into any other issues.

Thank you, this issue is resolved, however, I would suggest for development to add some kind of firmware update to make sure that the wheel is in the right position when the Palette starts (mine is the 2S Pro), so that this would not happen again.
