Is it possible to print single color but using the Palette?

I know my question may sound odd, but I find that having the Palette connected to my printer I do not need to swap filaments. Is it possible to use the Palette for single color printing?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I just load it up into multi-spool mode and put rolls of the same filament into two or more inputs.

There may be a better way.

Yes, that is what I do right now, but it defeats the main reason of using the Palette as a palette of filaments :P

Absolutely yes is the answer. The Palette can auto change between 4 feeds when filament runs out. This feature allows you to print huge one-color prints of 4 kg or more. It also allows you to use left over spools with small amounts of filament so that you can fully utilize them by stringing them together. You can use the same color of spools or different colors if a solid color is not important for the model being printed.

Thanks, however, my question was regarding Canvas. When you load a single color item onto a Canvas project, it bypasses Palette. What I am looking for is using Canvas and select the single color for the print and have Palette automatically use that color.

Hey @vorchak, if the print is single colour, CANVAS will not generate a file for Palette. However, as mentioned, currently the best way to print single colour prints with Palette is in Multi Spool Mode.

This is just another short sighted problem with this device. Has anyone found a way to print a single color with a single spool of filament yet? I am so frustrated with this thing it may go back to Amazon. I just got it yesterday.

We usually recommend that users simply detach Palette's tube clip and feed filament directly into the printer's extruder in order to remove any additional complexity to the printer setup. If you'd like to print in a single color, you could use Multi-Spool mode (mm3d.co/p3-multispool) and load a backup spool into another input.

is nobody working on fixing this? if you're too busy just lemme know and i'll never wonder again

@vvilliam We don't expect to release a single-color feature at this time. We had this available in previous generations of Palette, but received feedback that a large majority of users wouldn't use the feature and would rather feed filament directly into the printer's extruder. If you would like a workaround, then Multi-spool mode can be used by loading at least 2 inputs in Palette.

I understand what he is saying and it would be nice to have it where you can slice one color that way the palette can cut the filament at the right spot. If you use it on multi spool mode it doesn't cut the filament in the correct spot
