Direct connection to Hub

Is there any way to directly connect the Canvas Hub to a laptop without the use of Wifi? I want to be able to by-pass Wifi and use a cable to make the connection.

I have gone through hours of “help” files, questions and other resources to no avail. I have done all the so-called “troubleshooting” guides and can not get the Hub to even show in my Wifi list. I have “rebooted” the Hub multiple times with the Hub directly sitting on my router and it still doesn’t show up. This is incredibly frustrating because I have to disconnect my entire setup to move it 6 feet closer so I can try it. No, I am not doing it again.

If anyone has a quick guide to doing this, I would appreciate it.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hey @jody, thanks for reaching out about this, although I’m sorry you’re having trouble with the Hub. Although you can’t connect to the Hub without Wi-Fi, we can figure out why you can’t see the Hub’s network. By “rebooting,” do you mean that you have already tried factory resetting the Hub following the instructions here? After a factory reset, the new network name would be “abcd-ch-canvas-hub”.

By "rebooting" I did mean factory reset following the instructions you posted. The steps were a little unclear so it took some time to figure it out.

In the end, it turns out I am on a 5G network (which is a good suggestion to check first before a factory reset). As I'm not a network expert, I am once again at a level of frustration like no other. If I understand correctly:

- I have to use the Hub to print with the Palette

- I have to be on a 2.4G network

I would like to use the Palette. If there is a way to do so, let me know how. I understand that people buy the Palette without the hub....how do they use the Palette? I'm off to research that now.

Hey Jody, thanks for letting us know. Most routers can broadcast both a 2.4 and a 5G network, you can try out the steps here (https://support.rotimatic.com/en/article...) to see if you can set up a 2.4 network as well.

If you are unable to, please use Palette in accessory mode (without a Hub). You can find the instructions for setting up Palette in this mode here (mm3d.co/firstprint), step 6 will indicate which article to follow for accessory mode. If you already have a printer profile on CANVAS in connected mode, please make sure to make a new printer profile that is in accessory mode. Please let us know if you have any questions about these steps.

OK. The router has been set to use both 2.4G and 5G. The laptop I am using for my printer/hub is connecting only to the 2.4G. I have the hub sitting on top of my router and the laptop next to it. I still don’t see the hub in the network list and the (3) lights on the hub are continually blinking. Any suggestions for the next step?

@jody Thanks for taking the time to set that up. Unfortunately, if the 3 lights are continuously blinking, this means the Wi-Fi chip can't be found and we have to replace your Hub. Could you please email me your shipping address to alina@mosaicmfg.com so I can process a new order for you ASAP? Thank you!
