Compatibility w Formbot Troodon 2.0 (Voron 2.4 clone RepRapFirmware)

I have a Formbot Troodon 2.0, a Voron 2.4 clone running Reprap firmware (not Klipper). Would the Palette 3 (not pro) work with this printer. The printer is controlled over WiFi using the Duet Web Control web interface. Filament spools are hung from the back, through a long reverse Bowden tube to the Direct Drive extruder mounted on the gantry. The extruder has the typical Voron "latched" design.

More printer details here: https://www.formbot3d.com/products/trood...

Thank you for your consideration.

Hi @dondec, thanks for contacting us. Looking at the specs, I can confirm that Palette 3 Pro would be compatible with this printer. I would recommend positioning Palette at the back of the printer, removing the Bowden tube and clipping Palette's outgoing tube directly onto the extruder, if possible. If there is a filament run out sensor, you would need to disable this also.

You can get in touch when setting up with any support needs and we'll be happy to help.

Thank you for your response Guy. I understand what you said about the Bowden tube. It is rather long since the bed is stationary and the printhead must travel full forward without pulling the tube.

1) re: clipping Palette's outgoing tube... is it long enough (or should I or can I replace Palette's tube it with a longer one)?

2) I print PETG here... will the Palette 3 properly fuse PETG (it takes more heat than PLA)? Have you tested it?

Just trying to understand any potential issues. Thanks!

Hi Don, happy to help!

1) The longest outgoing tube provided with Palette 3 is 110cm. Looking at the printer, I believe this should be long enough to provide access to the extruder?

2) Yes, P3 is compatible with PETG, you will need to run splice tuning to find the best settings with your filament: Splice Tuning for Palette 3

You can use this chart as a guide of what settings to test: Palette 3 (Pro) Splice Tuning Chart

We'd be very happy to provide any help you need while splice tuning!
