whats wrong and how to fix

started some test prints. the base is fine. the top is off. how to fix. I can see what it needs I just don’t know where to start.

I know the thin layer has to much filiament, and the top most is fused and ready.

I am using a stock palette 3 and ender 3 pro with no mods.

Hi @sirrober126, there are a number of reasons why the top layer may not finish as expected. Since you just started with calibration, can you let us know the following:

  • From the home screen, if you go to Printers > Select Printer > Edit Calibration, what are the loading offset length and tube length selected for this printer?
  • Does this printer profile have an HM value logged? This is the ping or calibration data average.
  • In Canvas, if you go to Printers > Select/Edit Printer Profile > Extruder, do you have the bowden tube length for the printer saved here?

Comments:

from nozzle to extruder start it is 425mm. so I entered 425mm for the bowden tube

printed with new bowden offset. still not right. the left over material is 1010mm and from nozzle to next color change is 100mm ish,

Hi again @sirrober126, with this in mind, please also try doing an extruder calibration on your printer before starting another print. If the printer is not extruding accurately it can affect calibration and the timing of color changes.

Also, what is the loading offset entered on the printer profile (P3 home > Printers > Select Printer > Edit calibration data). The loading offset should be sufficient to bring the filament to the nozzle before starting the print.

I already did an extruder cal. that is where the last set of filiament numbers came in at. 100mm ish left to the next color change and 1010mm total left from nozzle to palette

either the palette if not making the right test on the last layer to triangle change or something else is the problem

@sirrober126 Thanks for doing this. On your Canvas projects, can you go to the Transition settings, and then see what the transition target percentage is? You can try lowering this by 5%, which should help the transitions come in sooner.
