I’m trying to update the firmware on my palette 2 and I get a “Error (Handshake timeout” on my Mac, and “Error (Opening COM3: Access denied)” on my PC. The status of the firmware update is “Screen Board (1 of 3) 100%”.

Hey @jeffreybernath, thanks for reaching out about this. Let’s try to update the firmware on your PC. It sounds like you got past the “Access Denied” error, as you were able to flash the screen board - is that correct? Please make sure to close all other other programs that have serial communications (i.e. Arduino) and disconnect any other devices using USB ports, then try turning off your computer and Palette, connecting Palette to your computer, and then turning your computer back on. Launch the updater (make sure it’s the latest updater found here), and flash the boards individually as you did in step 5, but please make sure to flash the main board first. If you are unsuccessful, please let me know what error you see during the update. Thanks for your patience!

I was getting COM NOT FOUND, installed the driver and got the error above. What solved it for me was in Advanced, I picked "Software bootloader" and "Install Latest" it updated 1 of 2. (This was going from 9.0.9 to 9.2.9 for my brand new (1st) Palette). The Palette showed 9.2.9 now, however I was going to test changing the baud rate. I set back to "Normal mode" and clicked "Install Latest". It said I was already up to date, update anyway and I said yes.
This time I am getting 3 components updated (maybe one wasn't out of date before).
