P3 Success! Print Showcase

This forum is filled with problems, challenges, and frustration, I’ve certainly voiced a few! But I wanted to take a moment to add a place for success, and show the possible.

What have you been able to make on your P3?

I’ve managed to print a 30mm sphere on my Voron 2.4 with black KVP ABS and KVP 3DSolve supports! After a quick soak and a quick pass with a toothbrush, I’m very happy with the results! Just ignore the micro-plastics I’m sure I washed down the sink…

Currently my splice settings between ABS and 3DSolve are 8,4,0

Surface finish leaves something to be desired and I’ll crack that up to the slicer behavior, but I’ve seen worse from professional printers. Feel free to comment on this post with any suggestions.

@wrenches I updated my answer on your support material question, but it didn't bump the post. You may be interested in this!

Glad to see you have it working. I just got mine and am also on a 2.4. So only in accessorise mode.... I am having issues with the splices holding down to the print head.

That’s pretty fantastic man, top work.

I’m struggling with my heatbreak being such a tight tolerance that each time a splice goes through it leaves a layer and ultimately blocks so nothing printer for me yet.

I do like that dissolve filament, does it come off very easily?

Great torture test for any printer! Can’t wait for P2PP to work in accessory mode with Klipper, there’s gap fill settings and surface finish options that work in SuperSlicer that I have not gotten to work in Canvas.

Second try (111 PLA), first succes with the Canvas, Palette 3Pro and Prusa i3 MK3s+. Looks promissing.

Had tried P2PP first, but need to dial-in some settings (several errors/warnings in P2PP.exe about short splices).

Awesome Erik!

If it's just the first splice being short, I would add extra perimeters to purge the nozzle. Otherwise the default purge volumes are exceptionally small if I recall correctly (70mm^3). Note that they are in true volume (mm^3) and not filament length. The scaling factor is about 0.415mm per 1mm^3, so 70mm^3 is only about 29mm of filament! Canvas default purge of 130mm would be 313mm^3 in the Prusa slicer settings.

I will take a look at this. I would love to keep Prusa Slicer as my Slicer and skip Canvas. I heard sending local files from PrusaSlicer via P2PP to the Palette will be available in next firmware for the PrusaSlicer. The steps are described in the P2PP manual, but the settings are not yet availabe in my Palette 3, but will be in the next version (coming soon???).

P3P passed the torture test after completed several test models. It slices with Slice3r and printed on Prusa mk3s with Bondtech LGX extruder. Duration is 31 hrs and ping data is around 99-100+. Slice data 1-2-2.

Huzza!

First large print with Super Slicer, P2PP, and P3P.
Was running into issues with printing too fast, and running out of buffer! Took me longer than I care to admit to track down.

KVP ABS, 8,3,-2. 0.1mm layer height, 20h print

Room for improvement? Sure! Threshold for success in my book? Yes.

Purge tower took substantially longer to print than the part itself, digging into purge speed settings. Seems to be buggy in Super Slicer

Hello,

@Ben M

can you please tell me how you managed to do it with the voron? I'm currently using the clipper with Octoprint in accessory mode (Voron 2.4), since Palette 3 doesn't communicate with the clipper. My pings are now close to 100 (+- 1-2), but unfortunately my color change is not correct at all. Should I perhaps reset the palette again, since I recalibrated the extruder in the meantime? And would it be a good idea to use Marlin instead of Klipper with the Voron?

I would be very happy about your support.

Thanks

Hello Andi,

I'm not doing anything particularly unique, just running accessory mode. It did take me a while to set up the tube lengths and get the splices in the right spot. I am now using P2PP with Super Slicer, but I originally got it to work with Canvas. Otherwise I mostly followed the Accessory mode setup, though I certainly spent longer than I care to admit getting everything adjusted.

My first successful print was this Smurfette that I painted in Canvas. Nothing crazy or extravagant, but I've been trying to get multi color printing working in various ways for about a year now, and the Palette 3 Pro is the first thing that's worked!
