Adding an external WiFi antennae to a Palette 3

Is there a way to add an external wifi antennae to the P3P? My P3P keeps dropping its connection and it is showing a very weak signal strength. This keeps me from being able to use Canvas/P3P in online mode and control the P3P from Canvas. All of the other devices in the room (3 printers/laptop/my phone) can connect and show medium to strong signals. I don’t have too many options to move it and I’d rather not have to hookup an access point just for the P3P.

Hey Larry, this is unfortunately not something you are able to do with P3P. However, I know you mentioned it would be difficult to do, but you can connect your P3P to the Internet with an Ethernet cord. Additionally, we are currently working on a firmware update for our users to have a better experience using WiFi.

Hana, thanks. I’ll just use an access point to give the P3P an internet connection via ethernet.

Yes I had to go out and buy an access point just to finish setup. And that blip caused setup to skip my initial loading, calibration, and test print. Which I can't do now because there's no way to go back and do the calibration and test print. Someone here said to reset the Palette to defaults, so I tried that . It just sat on the resetting to defaults screen, with the spinning arrow, for over an hour. So I had to turn it off and on. Tried again, same thing. I think this thing isn't ready for shipping yet.

I would hazard a guess you would have to reverse engineer the internals and subsequently voiding any warranty but if you wanted to risk such a crazy thing you would have to etch into the wifi traces on the main board hoping you get the TX and RX around the right way and then solder in some coaxial line to a plug an then antenna.

It’s very risky but not impossible.
