Sending GCode from Palette 3 when using Random Mode

I’ve been calibrating and experimenting with the Palette 3 (running in connected mode) for the last few days, and have noticed something kind of puzzling.

“Painted” multi-color prints in Canvas work just fine, with the Palette handling both filament splicing and GCode transmission. I was expecting that Random Mode would function in roughly the same way: i.e. I was expecting to be able to slice a print in Canvas with Random Mode enabled, send the resultant mcfx file to the Palette, and let the Palette handle both filament splicing and GCode transmission.

Therefore, I was somewhat surprised to discover that in Random Mode, the Palette will splice filament but it won’t actually transmit the model’s GCode to the printer. Judging by what I’m reading in the Random Mode wiki page (Random Mode), that’s the expected behavior.

This feels like a bit of a functionality gap to me, almost as though random mode has been implemented in Palette’s accessory mode, but not in its connected mode. Are there plans to support connected random mode in the future? Did I just miss something in the UI?

It figures that this is an issue… yet another way they’re trying to force everyone to use CANVAS instead of their own (likely much better tuned and more reliable) slicers.

It is curious though that they bill this system as a replacement for Octoprint yet it’s missing one of the key features of sending GCODE files to the printer.
