Only 1 color in canvas

Hi,

I installed the Palette and Canvas plugins on my Octoprint. I made a setup in Canvas with my printer and my linked Palette 2S Pro. It looks good, but when I try to prepare the calibration keychain, there is only one color available in the toolbox.

I added the model as a multi material model, and it shows both files as a group, but again in the tool box there is only one circle. Also the paint button is missing and the only option is to slice, not to paint.

I uploaded a screen shot of what it looks like to

I appreciate the help.

Hey Oze, I would ensure that you’re using the proper printer profile for this project. This usually happens when the attached setup does not contain a Palette, so only one color is available:

Hi Jonny,

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I am missing a step, as it looks like everything is correct in the setup.

Here are the project settings:

Is there somewhere else I need to check that my setup does not have the Palette?

Thanks,

Oze.

Hi,

OK, Adalyn from tech support showed me the error of my ways and how to add the Palette to my setup. I can now see all 4 colors.

My confusion was because I named my hub as Palette 2S Pro, and assumed that was the Palette. I needed to still click on add device and add it to the setup, so there are three items linked, the printer, hub, and Palette.

I appreciate the help.

Thanks!

Hello Jonny Yeu,

I also have a printer profile that shows only one color. I had to make my own profile, because I have a special printer: German RepRap X400CE-2Extruder and I could not identify a matching pattern from the existing printer profiles. Your comment to fix the problem is: This usually happens when the attached setup does not contain a Palette… With Palette you name the Mosaic Palette version, I think. Or what do you mean with Palette? I have connected the Palette Model 2 Pro (S), my Hub (Respberry PI with Octoprint and the required plugins for Palette and Canvas and all configured to work pretty) and my printer.

If Adalyn showed how to get it work, as reported, I am very interested to get her solution too.

An other interest for me is the Canvas version, where you can paint on any 3d models (one stl file or separated files). I cannot find this possibility in the Canvas slicer which handles the print jobs.

Thanks for help. If.

Hi Freidrich, you would need to ensure that your Palette is added to your Canvas Setup properly: mm3d.co/canvas-setups

The Painting feature may not be appearing since it's only allow for one color at the moment. Once you add a Palette to your setup, you should see 4 color options as well as the Paint feature.

Thank you Jonny Yeu for the link to the setup manual. I could add my palette device to the printer. But to come to this point wasn’t easy. The menue positions alone does’t lead to a complete setup. For me it happened accidental by doubleclicking something. Now I have 4 colors.

By the way: why do you need devices to be connected physically to a slicer. I don’t know one single one, that needs this. The only thing I need in Simplify3D for example is a profile and all goes offline. The same should be, if I work over the internet with the slicer and save this to put it onto a sd-card. The whole process with Mosaic is unnessarily complicated and NOT user friendly.

Palette does not need to be physically connected to a slicer. You can download the files and place it on an SD card for Palette in Accessory mode: mmd3.co/firstprint
