Palette 3 support in Chroma

Will Chroma support the Palette Pro 3? Currently it does not have that as one of the possible devices.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hey @rjs, Chroma will not support Palette 3 (Pro), but you can continue using it for any of the Palette 2 series. Let us know if you have any questions about this.

Update (05/07/2021)

Hey @rjs, you will be able to use PrusaSlicer as well as Canvas, as there will be a P3PP plugin. It will not be possible to use Cura or S3D. However, if you can tell us what kind of issues you have with print quality from Canvas, we can certainly look into it.

If Mosaic is done with Chroma would you all be open to the idea of open sourcing Chroma?

I'm betting there is a loyal userbase that would be willing to update it so we can continue to use our slicer of choice.

Hey Charlie, I can certainly reach out to the Canvas team regarding this. You can also submit this request on their github page: https://github.com/MosaicManufacturing

Will there be a replacement application or would we be forced to use Canvas and if so will Canvas be able to use the output of Simplify3D or Cura? The prints from Canvas are quite a bit worse than from either Cura or S3D so it that is the only option I will probably cancel my Palette 3 Pro order.

I second this concern! I do multi-settings all the time, different types of infill, custom gcode and more that simply aren't possible with canvas. Not supporting other slicers will affect my decision to get the palette 3

I was about to pre-purchase Palette 3 since it looks like an amazing device. However, I saw that it would require Canvas. Canvas does NOT have all the tweaks available by other slicers. Thus, it is impractical to use for performing calibration tests, for example, flow tests. There are no controls to set cooling percentage at different layers. There is no ability to say no top layer. I don't see any ability to run starting scripts such as auto auto leveling. It is discerning that a company producing a nice piece of hardware has decided not to support 3rd party slicers (or given their slicer advance features).

Hello,

I've been using the pallets since the first version and currently own the Pro 2 S version. I was interested in the 3 pro model but I don't understand why Mosaic forces its customers to use an online solution.

The principle of 3D printing is to be able to produce parts locally without depending on anyone and now you need an internet connection to produce any part. Without forgetting the years of experience acquired in Simplify3D or IdeaMaker which are no longer useful (the options of the supports is for example much higher in IM than in Canvas).

If this policy is not changed, I will not buy Mosaic products anymore…

Hey Sebastien, we do understand that some users prefer a completely offline experience, but unfortunately we are unable to offer this via Canvas. However, you can still use PrusaSlicer (with the P2PP plugin) with Palette 3 (Pro), which will allow you to work offline.

Thanks for your answer but I use, among other things, Raise3D printers and I have many, many profiles.

A simple update of Chroma would have been perfect for me.
