My P3P is now connected to the wifi network and can discovered/controlled by Canvas.  The only thing I did was leave the P3P unplugged AND disconnected from the printer overnight.  When I turned it on this morning it connected to the network and now lists the network name in green on the main screen. It had never done that before.  I am not sure if powering the unit off for an extended period was the solution but I do know my P3P is now connected. :-)
